If both the Primary IP and Secondary IP Address fields are left empty, the router will assign its own IP address to local users as a DNS proxy server and maintain a DNS cache.

If the IP address of a domain name is already in the DNS cache, the router will resolve the domain name immediately. Otherwise, the router forwards the DNS query packet to the external DNS server by establishing a WAN (e.g. DSL/Cable) connection.

4.2.2 Static Route

Go to LAN to open setting page and choose Static Route. It can help to describe one way of configuring path selection of router in computer network.

Destination

Type the IP address for the routing rule applied to.

Range

Choose Host or Net for specifying gateway or netmask

 

setting of such routing rule.

Netmask

Type the netmask for such routing rule if you choose Net

 

as Range setting.

Gateway

Type the gateway address for such routing rule.

Interface

Choose WAN or LAN as the interface for such route.

Comment

Type words as notification for such routing.

OK

Click this button to save current configuration and display

 

on the routing table below.

Cancel

Click this button to clear current configuration.
