This chapter discusses the operation of the FEC.

3.1 Transceiver Connection

The FEC supports both an MII interface for 10/100 Mbps Ethernet and a seven-wire serial interface for 10-Mbps Ethernet. The interface mode is selected by R_CNTRL[MII_MODE], described in Section 6.2.20, ÒReceive Control Register (R_CNTRL).Ó Table 3-1 shows the 18 MII interface signals that are deÞned by the 802.3 standard.
