Playing music and movies

A Digital Versatile Disc (DVD) is similar to a standard CD but has greater data capacity. Because of this increased capacity, full-length movies, several albums of music, or several gigabytes of data can fit on a single disc. DVDs can be played on a DVD player or a DVD drive-equipped computer.

Creating audio and video files

You can create audio and music files, either from scratch or from music CDs. You can also create video files from home video. For more information, see “Creating audio files and music libraries” on page 77, “Creating and editing videos” on page 81, and “Editing videos” on page 81.

Playing WAV audio files

Sound Recorder is a simple Windows program that lets you record and play WAV files. WAV is the most common audio file format used for your Windows system sounds.

Entertainment Ö Sound Recorder

To play a WAV audio file in Sound Recorder:

1Click Start, All Programs, Accessories, Entertainment, then click Sound Recorder. The Sound Recorder opens.

Fast Forward

Stop

2Click File, then click Open. The Open dialog box opens.

3Click the file you want to play, then click Open.

4Play the file by clicking (play), then stop playing the file by clicking (stop).
