4-1. TROUBLE SHOOTING GUIDE
	Problem		Cause		Correction
	Power switch on but fryer	•	Open circuit	•	Fryer plugged in
completely inoperative				• Check breaker or fuse at wall
Shortening not heating		•	Gas valve knob turned to the	•	Make sure gas control valve knob is
			OFF position		turned to the ON position
		•	Drain valve open	•	Close drain valve
		• High temperature limit tripped		• Reset high temperature limit; see

Foaming or boiling over		•	See Boil-Over chart on fryer	• Follow boil-over procedures from
			and beginning of Operation		chart.

Shortening not draining		•	Drain valve clogged	•	Push cleaning rod through open
					drain valve.
Filter motor won’t run		•	Motor overheated	•	Reset motor; see Filter Motor Protector-

Product Color Not
	Correct:			• Check temperature setting in the Program
	A. Too Dark	•	Temperature too high
					Mode
		• Breading to far in advance		• Bread product closer to frying period
	B. Too Light	•	Temperature too low	• Check temperature setting in the Program
					Mode
		•	Fryer incorrect preheat	• Allow proper preheat time
		•	Wrong product button pressed	•	Be sure to press the correct product to
					be cooked
	C. Product Greasy	•	Shortening old	•	Replace shortening
		•	Temperature too low	• Check temperature setting in the Program
					Mode
		•	Frypot overloaded	•	Reduce cooking load
		• Product not removed from frypot		• Remove product form frypot promptly
			immediately after end of cycle
