Silent Detect
Silent Detect refers to receiving faxes from older machines that do not send fax tones. This setting causes the HP Fax to wait and attempt to receive a fax if it does not hear a voice.

FAX | Silent faxes will be automatically received. This setting is |

TAM/FAX | Set Silent Detect on only if you are expecting faxes from a silent |
| machine. If you use Silent Detect the recommended setting is 7 |
| seconds. |

1Press the Menu button.
1:Fax Functions will display.
2Press 7.
37:Advanced Setup will display.
4Press Enter.
1:Scan & Fax will display.
5Press 3.
| 3:Silent Detect will display. | ||
6 | Press Enter. |

| Off | * will display. |

7 | Use the arrow buttons ( | ) to select the new setting you want and | |
| press Enter. |
| |
| Options are 5 to 15 seconds and Off. Off is the default. | ||
8 | Press the Cancel repeatedly to exit the menu. | ||
Important! Turn Silent Detect | Off after you have received your fax. |
