Silent Detect

Silent Detect refers to receiving faxes from older machines that do not send fax tones. This setting causes the HP Fax to wait and attempt to receive a fax if it does not hear a voice.

FAX	Silent faxes will be automatically received. This setting is
	unneeded.

TAM/FAX	Set Silent Detect on only if you are expecting faxes from a silent
	machine. If you use Silent Detect the recommended setting is 7
	seconds.

1Press the Menu button.

1:Fax Functions will display.

2Press 7.

37:Advanced Setup will display.

4Press Enter.

1:Scan & Fax will display.

5Press 3.

	3:Silent Detect will display.
6	Press Enter.
	Off	* will display.
7	Use the arrow buttons (		) to select the new setting you want and
	press Enter.
	Options are 5 to 15 seconds and Off. Off is the default.
8	Press the Cancel repeatedly to exit the menu.
Important! Turn Silent Detect			Off after you have received your fax.
