Thismethod of transmitting pictures produces the highest quality as the video signal is split into its
Y(brightness),U and V(red minus rightness, blue minus brightness )components. The signal can
alsobe sent as interlaced or as progressive scan.
Dolby Digital
DolbyLaboratories standard for transmitting 5.1 channels. Five full-value channels are transmitted in
thisacoustic playback system. A further channel is used for low frequencies(effects). The
loudspeakersare arranged front left, front middle, rear left and rear right. This system is currently the
mostcommon system and is used in cinemas.
DTS (Digital Theater Systems)

Transmissionstandard for 5.1 channels from Digital Theater Systems Inc. This is the second most
wide-spreadafter Dolby Digital.
DVD (Digital Versatile Disc)
Anew storage medium that combines the convenience of the compact disc with the latest digital
videotechnology. DVD video uses modern MPEG2 data compression technology that enables an
entirefeature film to be stored on a single five inch disc.
Programme Guide (Electronic Programme Guide, EPG)
Aelectronic programme guide (EPG) that comes with the broadcast to a particular satellite, Note that
everystation fills the EPG differently or not, so differences in the EPG are not necessarily receiver
errors.
Frequency
Thenumber of cycles or events per one second, which is expressed in the unit of hertz
