Removing and Inserting the Internal Flash Drive

The internal flash drive is an optional component of the M10i router. If installed, it provides primary storage for the router. It accommodates software images, configuration files, and microcode.

To remove, insert, and configure an internal flash drive, perform the following procedures:

Removing the Internal Compact Flash Disk from a Routing Engine

The internal compact flash disk is located in a slot on the Routing Engine board. To remove the internal compact flash disk, follow this procedure (see Figure 49):

NOTE: Depending on your configuration, the router might not have an internal compact flash disk. If there is no internal compact flash disk installed, you can proceed directly to the next section, “Inserting the Internal Compact Flash Disk” on page 127.

1.Place an electrostatic bag or antistatic mat on a flat, stable surface.

2.Attach an electrostatic discharge (ESD) grounding strap to your bare wrist and connect the strap to one of the ESD points on the chassis. Make sure the router
