Routine Maintenance Procedures

For optimum router performance, perform the following preventive maintenance procedures regularly:

Inspect the installation site for potential problems caused by moisture, loose wires or cables, and excessive dust. Make sure that airflow around the router is unobstructed.

Check the LEDs on the HCM and on hardware components. See “High-Availability Chassis Manager (HCM)” on page 17.

Maintaining the CFEB

The Compact Forwarding Engine Board (CFEB) installs into the rear of the chassis, as shown in Figure 2. To maintain the CFEB, perform the following procedures regularly:

Check the system logging messages on the management console. The CFEB notifies the Routing Engine of any errors it detects during normal operation.

Issue the CLI show chassis cfeb command to check the status of the CFEB.
