6.10.4 Assigning a filter to a printer

If you frequently use with a printer a specific form which uses a particular format, it might be useful to assign the printer a special filter for this.

Only fast filters can be assigned to printers.

Proceed as follows:

Check the printer status: xpstat -dev [selection]

For selection either specify a list of the printers whose status you want to display, or use the -scl“selection_criteria_list” option (see section “Selection criteria list” on page 266 in the Appendix) to define a list of criteria according to which the relevant printers are selected. If you do not specify selection, information on all printers will be displayed.

If necessary, deactivate the printer: xpchange -dev [selection] -st NOT_ACTIVE

Assign the relevant filter to the printer: xpmod -dev [selection] -flfilter_name

For filter_name specify the name of the relevant filter.

Reactivate the printer: xpchange -dev [selection]
