Problems with System Repair

Cannot create the “Windows Server 2003 OEM-DISK for NEC EXPRESSBUILDER” with “NEC Express5800/ft series Update CD”.

Is the command properly specified?

Make sure to specify the LANGENG since it is an argument. “Windows Server 2003 OEM-DISK for NEC EXPRESSBUILDER” will not be created if LANGENG is not specified as an argument. For details, see ‘If you have an update CD-ROM “NEC Express5800/ft series ft Update CD (Ver:n.n)”’ in “System Repair” in this chapter.

The screen to select HAL was not displayed on Starting up the Recovery Console.

Did you immediately enter <F5> and <F6> when the Recovery Console is starting?

Recovery Console will not start if a screen to select HAL was not displayed by pressing F5 and F6 on “Starting up the Recovery Console”. Immediately press F5 and F6 when “Press F6 if you need to install a third party SCSI or RAID driver…” is displayed on the bottom of a screen. A screen to select HAL will be displayed. Restart the system if a screen is not displayed, and see “Starting up Recovery Console” in “System Repair” in this chapter to restart the Recovery Console.

“Press F6 if you need to install a third party SCSI or RAID driver…” was not displayed and there was no chance to enter F5 and F6 when “When starting Recovery Console from Windows Server 2003 CD-ROM” was performed.

Did you press any key when the message “Press any key to boot from CD” is displayed on top of the screen?

Start-up from Windows Server 2003 CD-ROM is required to start the Recovery Console from Windows Server 2003 CD-ROM. Press any key while the message “Press any key to boot from CD” is displayed on the screen. You cannot start the recovery console from the CD-ROM unless the any key is pressed while the message is being displayed. Restart the system when it does not start from CD-ROM and the message “Press F6 if you need to install a third party SCSI or RAID driver…” is not displayed. See “Starting up Recovery Console” in “System Repair” in this chapter to start again.

The screen turns out to be black for a while when booting the Recovery Console.

If you start the Recovery Console that is installed in the system, the screen turns out to be black for a while when booting the Recovery Console. Since the system is normally working, please wait for a while.

When the system’s update is being processed, Operating System Stop Error occurred at the system reboot.

During the system update process, the message “Windows-FT Orphaning A disk that is part of a fault–tolerant volume can no longer be accessed” is displayed, and there is sometimes a case that OS Stop Error occurs on a reboot after this process. See IMPORTANT of step 6 in “Updating the System” in this chapter when OS Stop Error occurs, and reboot the system. In addition, the system’s update is successfully being performed when the message “Windows-FT Orphaning A disk that is part of a fault-tolerant volume can no longer be accessed” is displayed. However, the mirroring of HDD is not applied. Make sure to check the hard disk’s mirroring after the system start-up.
