5. lnterpupillary Distance Changes by ltself
Cause: (!) Breakage, deformat1on or wear of
(2)Loosening of torque adjusting screw @e@).

ln the case of (1) ...... Refer to 4. Not smooth operation of interpupillary distance adjustment,
cause (2 ).
ln the case of (2) ...... Fasten positively the torque adjusting screw @ C@).so that the
torque is 1.5 - 2 Kg (Fig. 18).
Note: Ali the tubes ot X and Y microscopes being ot Siedentopt type. where the tightness of interpup1llary distance adjustrnent is determmed by bending of
Procedure
1)Remove central axle cap @ C@). Since the screw is attached with No. 350, use alcohol for remova!.
2)Fasten the torque adjusting screw @ (@)to make the torque l .5 - 2 Kg.
3)Attach central axle cap @ C@).
4)Finally, see that the interpupillary distance does not change by itself.
6.Dirt in the Optical System (Flare, Unclear lmage of Dust or the Like in the Viewfietd)
Cause: (1) Finger marks, oil or the like on the light incidence surface of p~sm @ Cê and @).
(2)Large dust on the surfaces of prisms @ and @ or prism @.

ln the case of (1) ...... Wipe lightly using a cloth or lens tissue $0aked with a triíle of absolute
alcohol (ethanol or rnethanol).
