Check Digits

Check digit algorithms are pre-defined for UPC and EAN bar codes. If you wish to apply a check digit algorithm to a numeric text field or a bar code that has no pre-defined algorithm, use the syntax below to define a check digit packet.

Online Information

{	Starting token.
A1.A	Indicates a check digit data stream.
A2.selector	Assign a number from 1-9 to this check digit formula.
A3.action	Options:
	A = add check digit
	C = clear check digit
A4.device	Printer storage device. Options:
	R = Printer RAM
	M = Memory card
A5.modulus	Number from 2-10. Modulus used in calculation.
A6.fld-length	Number of weighting digits used. Should equal the
	number of digits in the field, minus the check digit. This
	number must equal the length of weights.
	Maximum 29.
A7.[D/P]	Algorithm.
	D=sum of digits.
	P=sum of products.
A8."weights"	String of digits used for calculation. Note that the string
	must be in double quotes. The number of digits
	in this string should equal the number in parameter #5 (fld-length).
