Check Digits

Check digit algorithms are pre-defined for UPC and EAN bar codes. If you wish to apply a check digit algorithm to a numeric text field or a bar code that has no pre-defined algorithm, use the syntax below to define a check digit packet.

Assign a number from 1-9 to this check digit formula.

C = clear check digit

A5.modulus

Number from 2-10. Modulus used in calculation.

A6.fld-length

Number of weighting digits used. Should equal the

 

number of digits in the field, minus the check digit. This

 

number must equal the length of weights.

D=sum of digits.

 

P=sum of products.

String of digits used for calculation. Note that the string

 

must be in double quotes. The number of digits
