3.3 Files stored in the file upload direct ory
When dictation files a re uploaded from a Digital Pocket Me mo, the LAN Docking Statio n creates
a subdirectory with t he serial number of the Digita l Pocket Memo under the file upload di rectory
and places all uploaded file s there. The file names of the uplo aded files are composed of the name
of the author, the sequential num ber of the file, and the .DSS file e xtension.
The LAN Docking Sta tion also creates a “configuratio n” subdirectory in the file uplo ad directory
and creates a file named MAC _config.txt, where MAC is t he MAC address of the LAN Docking
Station. These files cont ain configuration informa tion for the LAN Docking St ation and are used
by the Administration Tool. See L AN Docking Station Admin istration Tool on page 18 for more
information.
3.4 Setting up the file upload user acco unt on your FTP server
Create a user account on your F TP server that the LAN Doc king Station will use to upload
dictation files. This u ser account needs the following acce ss rights to the file upload direc tory:
Create subdirectorie s
Create and write files
List directory cont ents
The user name and password fo r this user account must be entere d at the LAN Docking Statio n
configuration inter face. See the next chapte r for details.
