3.7.2 Assigning a static IP address
D Note: If you are installing t he LAN Docking Station for t he first time, follow the instru ctions
in the Installation ch apter on page 6.
E Tip: To display the current IP address a ssigned to a LAN Docking St ation and its MAC
address, slide a Digital p ocket Memo 9600 or 9620 into the d ocking slot and press the MEN U
button and RIGHT SM ART BUTTON on the Digital Pocket Me mo simultaneously.
To assign a static IP address to the L AN Docking Station, follow t hese steps:
Open the LAN Docki ng Station
configuration inter face by entering its IP
address in your Web browser or using th e
LAN Docking Stat ion Administration Tool.
Check the USE THE FOL LOWING IP
SETTINGS check b ox on the IP settings
panel.
Enter the IP address you wan t to assign
to the LAN Docking St ation into the IP
ADDRESS field.
Enter the subnet mask for t his IP address
into the SUBNET MA SK field.
Enter the IP address of your ne twork
gateway into the DEFAULT GATEWAY field.
Enter the IP address of a DN S server on your network into th e PREFERRED DNS SERVER
field. A DNS server is on ly required if you reference your FT P server using a domain name on
the FTP settings pan el (see FTP settings on page 11). Leave the field emp ty if you do not want
to specify a DNS ser ver.
You can enter the IP address of anot her DNS server into the ALTERNATE DNS SE RVER
field. This alternate D NS server will only be used if th e preferred DNS server is not av ailable.
Leave the field empty if you don‘t w ant to specify an alternat e DNS server.
Press the SUBMIT bu tton at the bottom of the IP set tings panel in order to save your
changes. The LAN Doc king Station will change its I P address immediately and will a ttempt to
use this static IP addres s every time it is powered on.
