E Tip: It is good practice to make a note of the location and network socket number of each
LAN Docking Station before they are deployed. You can enter this information into the
comment field of the LAN Docking Station configuration interface, which will make it easier to
troubleshoot and maintain LAN Docking Stations in your network. See Assigning a comment to
the LAN Docking Station on page 16 for more information about assigning comments.
2.2 Installation usi ng the factory default IP a ddress
If your network does not have a D HCP server, follow these steps to inst all a new LAN Docking
Station:
Connect the LAN Dock ing Station to the main power supp ly with the included Philips powe r
supply.
Connect the LAN Dock ing Station to a free network soc ket using the RJ45 network cab le.
Slide a Digital pocket Me mo 9600 or 9620 into the docking s lot of the LAN Docking Stat ion.
Press and hold the FUNC TION and the MENU butto n on the Digital Pocket Memo
simultaneously for 3 se conds. The LAN Docking St ation will be configured to use the st atic IP
address 192.168.109.1 (subnet mask 255.255.255 .0).
Configure the network con netion settings of your PC to use a s tatic IP address like
192.168.109.xxx and subnet mask 2 55.255.255.0 for the networ k socket that is used to
connect the LAN Dock ing Station.
Open a Web browser on your PC and ente r http://192.168.109.1 in the address field
Your user name and password is requi red. Leave the USER NAME field e mpty and enter
‚administrator‘ in th e PASSWORD field.
Change the IP address of the L AN Docking Station accordi ng to your network policy. See
Assigning a static IP addr ess on page 14 for more information.
Make any additional configu ration changes as you see fit. S ee Configuration on page 8 for more
information.
D Note: This procedure reset s all configuration setting s of the LAN Docking Statio n to their
factory defaults .
C Important: If ins talling several LAN Dock ing Stations, be sure to change t he IP address of
the LAN Docking Sta tion before connecting the nex t one to the network. Failure to do s o
will result in IP address con flicts, making the configu ration interface of the L AN Docking
Station inaccessible .
