3.9 Assigning a comment to the LAN Docking S tation
You can assign comments to each L AN Docking Station. As signing comments is not required , but
it can help you identify i ndividual LAN Docking St ations within your organiz ation.
Enter the name of the oce (where the LAN
Docking Station is installed) along with a
comment in the the comments panel. This will
help you identify this LAN Docking Station.
Press the SUBMIT bu tton at the bottom of
the comments panel to save you r changes.
D Note: The ROOM field is limited to 128
characters; the COM MENT field is limited to
255 characters.
3.10 Upg rading the LAN Docking Stat ion firmware
Occasionally Philip s may release new versions of the firmw are with bug fixes and feature
improvements. Visit the s upport center at ww w.philips.com/dictation to c heck if a new firmware
version is available for the L AN Docking Station. The c urrent version of the firmware is d isplayed
at the top of the configurati on interface on the STATUS panel.
Download the latest firmwa re (.bcd file) from www.philips.com /dictation.
Save the .bcd file to to a network lo cation that the LAN Docki ng Station can access. This ca n
be either an FTP serve r or an HTTP Web server.
Open the LAN Docki ng Station configuration inte rface by entering its IP add ress in your
Web browser or using the LAN Do cking Station Administra tion Tool.
Select the type of ser ver (FTP, SFTP, HTTP) where you have saved the .bcd fi le.
Enter the domain name or I P address of the server hosting t he firmware file into the SERVER
field (the server does not have to b e on your Local Area Network). I f you reference the
server using its doma in name, make sure that at least on e DNS server is configured (see
Assigning a static IP addr ess on page 14) or that you are using DHCP (see A ssigning an IP address
from DHCP on page 13).
Enter the port numbe r of your server into the PORT field. U nless your server is configured
to use nonstandard por t numbers, you should use 21 for an FT P server, 22 for an SFTP
connection and 80 for an HT TP Web server.
