4.3 Installation
To install the Administration t ool on your PC:
Insert the Administ ration Tool CD into your CD-ROM drive .
The Administration Tool set-up p rogram starts automa tically. If not, open the Admini stration
Tool CD contents in Windows Explo rer and run the setup.exe file.
Follow the on-screen ins tructions of the set-up prog ram to install the Administr ation Tool on
your PC.
4.4 First-time configuration
The Administration Tool collec ts information
about the LAN Docki ng Stations in your
network by collecting th e LAN Docking Stations’
identification files fro m a shared upload directory
on your FTP server. See Setti ng up the FTP server
on page 9 for information ab out setting up
your FTP server. Afterw ards, a connection is
established to each L AN Docking Station to read
its configuration dat a.
When you run the Administration Tool for the first
time, you will be prompted to enter the connection
data of the FTP server and the administration
password to allow direct communication with the
LAN Docking Stations. FTP server settings can
also be accessed at a later time by clicking the
SETTINGS button in the file menu.
If the directory is map ped to a shared network folder:
Check the LOCAL NETWO RK DRIVE radio button.
Enter the absolute path to t he shared upload director y or click the BROWSE button and
select the folder.
Enter an administrati on password for direct connect ions with LAN Docking St ations in the
PASSWORD field and confirm it i n the RE-ENTER field.
Click OK at the bottom of the co nfiguration dialog.
