4.6 Using the Initial Setup Instal ler to install a LAN Docking St ation
The Initial Setup Inst aller oers a comprehensi ve and easy to use interface to in itally configure
the settings of a LAN D ocking Station. Follow the ste ps below to install a LAN Doc king Station.
Connect the LAN Dock ing Station to the PC that is run ning the Administration Tool, or to
your LAN, via a crosse d LAN cable.
Open the Initial Setup I nstaller by clicking on the tool b ar button.
Specify the current IP address of the LAN Docking Station in the CURRENT IP ADDRESS field.
IP SETTINGS
You can assign a static IP address to t he LAN Docking Station or h ave it use the DHCP
service on your network t o obtain an IP address automati cally in the IP settings pan el of the
Initial Setup Insta ller dialog
Assigning an IP address via DHCP: To have the LAN Docking St ation obtain an IP
address automatically f rom the DHCP server on your net work, check the OBTAIN AN IP
ADDRESS AUTOMATICALLY (DHCP) rad io button. See Assigning an I P address from DHCP
on page 13 for further inform ation.
Assigning a static IP address: To assign a static IP ad dress to the LAN Docking St ation,
check the USE THE FOL LOWING IP SETTINGS radi o button and enter the IP addre ss
settings, includin g the IP address, the subnet mas k, the gateway address, and the D omain
Name Server address es.
FTP SETTINGS
Enter the hostname and port of the server, as well as the username, the password and the path
on the server. If the FTP server can accept secure connections, you may use this feature by
checking the SFTP radio button. For further information, refer to FTP settings on page 11. For
information on setting up the FTP server, refer to chapter Setting up the FTP server on page 9.
AUTOMATIC FILE UPLOAD SETTI NGS
The automatic file upload se ttings let you configure which di ctation files are automatica lly
uploaded to the FTP ser ver when a Digital Pocket Memo is co nnected to the LAN Docki ng
Station. For furthe r information, refer to Auto matic file upload on page 12.
ADMINISTR ATION PASSWORD
Enter an administrati on password for the LAN Docki ng Station.
COMMENTS
You may enter any commentary dat a about the LAN Docking St ation in the comments panel.
For further informa tion, see Assigning a comment to t he LAN Docking Station o n page 16.
Press the CONFIGUR E button at the bottom of th e Initial Setup Installe r panel to submit the
settings to the LAN D ocking Station.
