2 Installation
When installing one or mo re new LAN Docking Station s to your network, you can set it up in
one of two ways:
Use the DHCP service on yo ur network to assign IP address es to the LAN Docking Stati ons
based on the MAC address of eac h LAN Docking Station, or
Set the LAN dockin g station to a default IP address t o access the configuration inte rface and
assign a fixed IP address
The LAN Docking has a d efault configuration set ting to use the DHCP server to ob tain its IP
address. This makes it ea sier to do a batch installation o f several LAN Docking Stat ions in a
corporate network . See Installation using DHC P below for more information.
If your network does not su pport DHCP, you can set the LAN Doc king Station to use a default
static IP address to get st arted. See Installat ion using the factory default I P address below for more
information.
2.1 Installation usi ng DHCP
If your network has a DHC P server, follow the steps below to insta ll new LAN Docking Station s:
Make a note of the MAC address of ever y LAN Docking Station th at you are about to install
(The MAC address can be found o n the bottom plate of the LAN D ocking Station).
Configure your DHCP ser ver to assign an IP address to each L AN Docking Station base d on
the MAC address of each LAN D ocking Station. Refer to the d ocumentation of your DHCP
server for more informat ion.
Deploy the LAN Docki ng Stations throughout your org anization. Connect each L AN
Docking Station to the m ain power supply with the include d Philips power supply. Connect
each LAN Docking St ation to a free network socket usin g the RJ45 network cable.
Open a Web browser on your PC and load th e LAN Docking Station confi guration interface
for each assigned IP addre ss to configure the LAN Dock ing Stations individually. See
Configuration on page 8 for mo re information.
D Note: The LAN Dockin g Station is configured by default t o obtain an IP address from your
DHCP server. If this default s etting has been changed, you m ust reset the device to its factor y
default settings be fore starting. Read Resetti ng to factory defaults on page 17 for info rmation
on how to reset the LAN Dock ing Station to factory de fault settings.
