%PressA and hold until FRONT appears

inthe display, then press A to display the

DSPfunction names.

AfterFRONT is displayed, press Arepeatedly,

thefollowing DSP functions appear in the dis-

play:

FRONT(speaker setting)HPF (cross-over fre-

quency)FRT-L(speaker output level)

TTONE (test tone)INITIAL (time align-

mentmode)FL (time alignment adjustment)

AT EQ (auto-equalizer on/off)PEQ (3-band

parametricequalizer)

#Whenneither F/L nor F/R is selected in POSI,

youcannot switch to INITIAL or FL.

#Toreturn to the display of each source, press

BAND.

Using the sound field control

TheSFC function creates the sensation of a

liveperformance.

!Theacoustics of different performance en-

vironmentsare not the same and depend

onthe extent and contour of space through

whichsound waves move and on how

soundsbounce off the stage, walls, floors

andceilings. At a live per formance you

hearmusic in three stages: direct sound,

earlyreflections, and late reflections, or re-

verberations.Those factors are programed

intothe SFC circuitry to recreate the acous-

ticsof various performance settings.

%PressEQ-EX to select the desired SFC

mode.

PressEQ-EX repeatedly to switch between the

followingmode:

MUSICAL(musical)DRAMA (drama)

ACTION(action)JAZZ (jazz)HALL (hall)

CLUB(club)OFF (off)

Note

Ifthe source is a 2-channel LPCM audio or a 2-

channelDolby Digital audio and you select SFC

effectsthat are most applicable for 5.1-channel

audio(i.e., MUSICAL,DRAMA or ACTION), we

recommendturning Dolby Pro Logic Bon. On the

otherhand, when selecting SFC effects that are

intendedfor use with 2-channel audio (i.e., JAZZ,

HALLor CLUB), we recommend turning Dolby

ProLogic Boff.

Using the position selector

Oneway to assure a more natural sound is to

accuratelyposition the stereo image, putting

youright in the center of the sound field.The

positionselector function letsyou automati-

callyadjust the speaker output levels and in-

sertsa delay time to match the number and

positionof occupied seats. When used in con-

junctionwith the SFC, the feature will make

thesound image more natural and offer a pa-

noramicsound that envelops you.
