Chapter 5: Configuration

Translations Tab

Scan Indicator

When this parameter is enabled, the laser warning logo appears on the display whenever the scanner is activated.

Scan Result Time (sec)

The value assigned to the ‘Scan Result Time (sec)’ parameter determines how long the scan results of a successful scan are displayed on the screen. Time is measured in seconds, and a value of ‘0’ (zero) disables the parameter. When you choose this option, a dialog box appears where you can enter a value.

Note:

To remove the scan result from the screen before the “Result Time” has

expired, point the scanner away from the bar code and press the trigger.

Good Scan Beep And Bad Scan Beep

These parameters determine whether or not the vehicle-mount emits an audible scanner ‘beep’ when a good (successful) scan or a bad (unsuccessful) scan is performed. Set these parameters to either on to enable the beeper or off to disable it.

Soft Scan Timeout

This parameter is used by the SDK ‘Scan’ function (soft-scan: starting a scan session via the SDK function rather than through a physical trigger press). The value assigned to this pa- rameter determines the soft-scan timeout from 1 to 10 sec. (default is 3 sec.).

Scan Log File

If this parameter is enabled, the input bar code and the modified/translated output bar code are logged in the file \Flash Disk\ScanLog.txt. Keep in mind that if this parameter is en- abled, there is a slight performance effect when performing multiple scans because the log file is written to persistent storage.

5.17.3Translations Tab

The Translations tab allows you to define up to 10 cases, each consisting of up to 10 rules in sequential order. Only one case will be applied to a bar code and a case will only be applied if all rules specified in the case are successful—if a rule within a case fails, the entire case fails.
