Quick SetupIfthe following conditions apply, youcan go directly to the
appropriate setup procedure to install the adapter:
1. Youhave followed the instructionsin the Read This First guide
and communicated the Ethernet hardware address of your adapt er
to your network administrator.
2. Yournetwork administrator ha sre turned the card to you with an
IP address. (This means that the network administra tor has
prepared the network by assigning a static IP address that is
mapped to the Ethernet Hardware address of the adapter.)
Notethe information from the Network Information Cardand
proceedas follows:
HIf there is a DHCP/BOOTPserver that i sconfi gured to allocate a
static IP address, go to page 25.
HIf the DHCP/BOOTPserver only all ocates a dynamic IP address
(whether or not the administrator has assigned a fixed IP
address), go to page 21.
HIfthere is no DHCP/BOOTP server andthe network administra-
tor has assigned a static IP address to the adapter, go to page 18.
HIf you want to set up the adapter on a stand alone PC, go to
page 15.
HIf the adapter was previously configured on another network and
you wish to reset it to factory defaults and turn DHCP on, go to
page 14.
HIf you wish to know more about DHCP/BOOTP servers and
installingthe adapter on a network, continue reading on to the
next section.
