CommandSyntax
OA 5000 Series User Manual 3 --- 7
Commands
Commands cause the OA 5000 to performa specific function or change one
of its settings. Commands have the structure:
H[:]<Header>[<Space><Argument>[<Separator><Argu-
ment>]...]
Queries
Queries cause the OA 5000 toreturn information about its status or settings.
Queries have the structure:
H[:]<Header>?
H[:]<Header>?[<Space><Argument>[<Separator><Argu-
ment>]...]
Youmay use only a part of the header in a query command. When you do
this, the instrument returns informationabout all the possible mnemonics
that you have left unspecified. For example, ATT:DB? returns the current
setting in absolutedB units, w hileATT? returns the setting in absolute units
and units relative tothe reference.
Headers in QueryResponses
Youcan control whether or not headers are returned by the OA 5000 as part
of the query response. Use the HEADER command tocontrol this feature. If
header is on, command headers are returned as part of the query, and the
query response is formattedas a valid set command. When header is off,
only the valuesare sent back in the response, which may be easier toparse
and to extract the information.Table 3-3 shows the difference in responses.
