3 CONNECTING THE PULSE SENSOR

This model detects and displays your pulse rate during exercise by the earlobe sensor from your earlobe. Being a sensitive elec- tronic part, the earlobe sensor must be handled with sufficient care.

Important: When the chest-belt sensor is used, remove the earlobe sensor plug from the control unit. Signals from the chest- belt sensor cannot be received if the earlobe sensor is connected.

Connect the pulse sensor.

1 ¥ Insert the plug of the cable (coming out of the left side of the main unit) into the pulse sensor jack at the back of the control unit.

¥Insert the pulse sensor plug into the jack on the side of the inner pipe end cover.

Caution: If the plug is not pushed fully home, the pulse might not be measured correctly.

¥Attach the sensor clip to the handlebar, clipping the sensor cable in position.

Caution:

Pulling the pulse sensor with forth may result in dis-

connection. Handle the sensor carefully.

¥ Attach the cable clip to your clothes to prevent excessive swinging of the sensor cable.

¥ Ear rings or other ornaments must be removed before attaching the sensor and during exercise.

¥ Try not to change the position of the pulse sensor during the exer- cise.

¥ When removing the pulse sensor after exercise, be sure to remove also the cable holder.
