Select Ring (and Ringer Volume)

You will hear a set of rising tones as the speakerphone adjusts itself to the surrounding acoustical environment. These tones are automatic. No user response is required.

To adjust the speakerphone to the surrounding room acoustics

Note: If you do not have a Shift button, it is not necessary to activate this feature.

1While on-hook, press Shift

∙ Red light next to Shift goes on steadily

2Press Speaker

∙ Red light next to Shift goes off

Red light next to Speaker blinks

You hear a series of tones as the speakerphone performs an acoustic test of the environment. The display shows:

OPTIMIZING PERFORMANCE

OF THE SPEAKERPHONE.

When the tones stop, your built-in speakerphone is ready for use.

Select Ring (and Ringer Volume)

To select a personalized ringing pattern (for those 8405 voice terminals which have a Shift button)

Note: For procedures on selecting a personalized ringing pattern for those 8405 voice terminals that have a Ring button, see the next page.

1 Press Shift

Red light goes on steadily

2Press Hold

∙ Red light next to Shift winks

Current ringing pattern plays and repeats every three seconds.

If your 8405 has a display, it shows the ringing pattern you are hearing, such as:

3Continue to press (and then release) Hold (or, if you

are using a display set, you can also press Next Manual backgroundManual background

or Manual backgroundManual background Prev ) to cycle through all eight ringing patterns
