1� Wi-fi Protected s etup (WPs)

2� Personal Identification Number (PIN) Method:
In this method, a wirele ss client wishing to access your ne twork must
supply an 8-digit PIN t o the Router. Start the WPS PIN handsha king
procedure from the cli ent, and you will b e provided an 8- digit PIN. Enter
it in the box and click “ Enroll”.
3� Router PIN
If an external registr ar is available, you may enter in the R outer’s PIN
to the registrar. Click “Ge nerate New PIN” to ch ange the PIN from t he
default value. Click “Re store Default PIN” to reset the PIN valu e.
4� Push button Configuration (PbC) Method
PBC is an alternate metho d to connect to a WPS network. Push the
PBC button located on th e front of the Rou ter for two secon ds, and
then initiate WPS PBC on th e client device. A lternatively, push the “Start
PBC” soft button to sta rt this proces s.
5� Manual Configuration Method
This section lists the current securi ty settings to b e set up if not us ing
WPS.
WPa2 Requirements
IMPoRTaNT: In order to use WPA2 security, all yo ur computers an d
wireless client adapte rs must be upgr aded with patches, driver, and
client utility softw are that suppor ted WPA2. At the time of this User
Manual’s publication, a co uple security p atches are availabl e, for free
download, from Microsof t®. These patches work only with the Windows
XP operating system. Ot her operating sys tems are not supp orted at this
time.
For Windows XP computer s that do not have Se rvice Pack 2 (SP 2),
a file from Microsoft called “Windows XP Support Patch for Wireless
Protected Access (KB 8 26942)” is available fo r free download at
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/826942
For Windows XP with Ser vice Pack 2, Micros oft has release d a
free download to update t he wireless clie nt components to s upport
WPA2 (KB971021). The update is availabl e from: http://support .
microsoft.com/kb/917021
These steps are not ne cessary for W indows XP SP3 and a bove.
IMPoRTaNT: You also need to ensure that all your wireless client cards/
adapters support WPA2, and that you have dow nloaded and inst alled
the latest driver. Most of t he Belkin wireles s cards have drive r updates
available for download fr om the Belkin supp ort site: www.belk in.com/
networking.
