Troubleshooting
setup assistant CD does not automatically start�
If the CD-ROM does not start the Setu p Assistant autom atically, it could
be that the computer is running other ap plications that ar e interfering
with the CD drive.
1� If the Setup Assistant Welcome screen d oes not appear w ithin
15-20 seconds, open up you r CD-ROM drive by double-clicking on
the “My Computer” icon that is located o n your desktop.
2� Next, double-click on th e CD-ROM drive th at the Setup Assi stant
CD has been placed in to start the in stallation.
3� The Setup Assistant sho uld start within a few seconds. If, instead,
a window appears showin g the files on the CD, double-click on the
icon labeled “SetupAs sistant”.
4� If the Setup Assistant st ill does not star t, reference th e section
titled “Manually Confi guring Network S ettings” (page 67 ) of this
User Manual for an alte rnative setup meth od).

If the Setup Assistant is not able to fin d the Router durin g the installatio n
process, please che ck the following ite ms:
1� If the Setup Assistant is not able to fin d the Router durin g the
installation process , there may be thir d-party firewa ll software
installed on the compu ter attempting to a ccess the Intern et.
Examples of third-par ty firewall sof tware are ZoneA larm, BlackICE
PC Protection, McAfee Per sonal Firewall, an d Norton Person al
Firewall. If you do have fire wall software ins talled on your
computer, please make sure that you properly configure it. You ca n
determine if the firewall software is pr eventing Internet ac cess by
temporarily turning it off. If, while the f irewall is disable d, Internet
access works properl y, you will need to cha nge the firewall se ttings
to function properly w hen it is turned on. Please refer to the
instructions provided by the publisher o f your firewall sof tware for
instructions on confi guring the firewall to allow Internet a ccess.
2� Unplug power to the Router fo r 10 seconds, and th en plug the
power back into the Router. En sure that the Route r’s “router” LED
is on; it should be soli d BLUE. If not, che ck to make sure that the
AC adapter is connected to the Router and p lugged into a wall
outlet.
3� Ensure that you have a cable connected betwe en the network
(Ethernet) port on th e back of the comp uter and one of the “to
Wired Computers” por ts on the back of the Router.
Note: The computer should NOT be connected to t he port labele d “to
Modem” on the back of th e Router.
4� Try shutting down and resta rting your comp uter, then rerunning the
Setup Assistant.
If the Setup Assistant is still unable to find the Router, refer ence the
section titled “Manua lly Configuring N etwork Settings” for installation
steps.
