I am NoT using a belkin client car d for a home network and I am
having difficulty setting up Wireless Protected access (WPa)
security�
If you are not using a Be lkin Wireless D esktop or Wirele ss Notebook
Network Card that is no t equipped with W PA-enabled softwa re, a
file from Microsoft c alled “Windows XP Support Patch fo r Wireless
Protected Access” is avai lable for free dow nload. Download the patch
from Microsoft by sea rching the knowled ge base for Window s XP WPA.
Note: The file that Microsof t has made availab le works only with
Windows XP. Other operating sy stems are not supp orted at this ti me.
You also need to ensure tha t the wireless ca rd’s manufacturer s upports
WPA and that you have download ed and installed the latest driver from
their support site.
Supported Operating Systems:
•WindowsXPProfessional
•WindowsXPHomeEdition
1� Under Windows XP, click “Star t > Control Panel > Network
Connections”.
2� Right-clicking on the “Wir eless Networks” tab will display th e
following screen. Ensure the “Use Windows t o configure my
wireless network set tings” check box i s checked. [need im age]
3� Under the “Wireless Net works” tab, click t he “Configure” but ton
and you will see the foll owing screen. [nee d image]
4� For a home or small busine ss user, select “ WPA-PSK” under
“Network Administratio n”.
Note: Select WPA (with radius se rver) if you are using this compute r to
connect to a corporate network that sup ports an authe ntication server
such as a radius ser ver. Please consult yo ur network admini strator for
further information.
5� Select “TKIP” or “AES” under “Date Encryptio n”. This setting will
have to be identical to th e Router that you se t up.
6� Type in your encryption key in the “Network key” b ox.
Important: Enter your pre-sha red key. This can be f rom eight to 63
characters and can b e letters, numbe rs, or symbols. This same key
must be used on all of the clients that y ou set up.
7� Click “OK” to ap ply settings.
