Modem Requirements
Your cable or DSL modem mu st be equipped w ith an RJ45 Etherne t
port. Many modems have both an RJ45 Ether net port and a USB
connection. If you have a modem with both Et hernet and USB, a nd are
using the USB connecti on at this time, you will be instructe d to use the
RJ45 Ethernet port du ring the installa tion procedure. I f your modem has
only a USB port, you c an request a dif ferent type of modem from your
ISP, or you can, in some cases , purchase a mode m that has an RJ4 5
Ethernet port on it.

Belkin has provided ou r Setup Assistan t software to ma ke installing your
Router a simple and ea sy task. You can use i t to get your Router up and
running in minutes. The Setup Assistant requires that you r computer be
connected directly to your cable or DSL modem and that th e Internet
connection is acti ve and working at the time of ins tallation. If it is not,
you must use the “Alternate Setup Method” sec tion of this User Manual
to configure your Router. Add itionally, if you are using an operatin g
system other than Windows 2000, XP, Vista or Wind ows 7, or Mac OS X
v10.x, you must set up the Ro uter using the “Alter nate Setup Method”
section of this User Ma nual.
