Changing the Wireless security settings

Your Double N+ Wireless Rou ter is equipped w ith the latest sec urity

standard called Wi-F i Protected Acces s™ 2 (WPA2™) and the le gacy

security standard c alled Wired Equiva lent Privacy (WEP ). Your Router

also supports the Wi -Fi Protected Setu p™ (WPS) specificati on,

which simplifies the s etup of a wireless network. WPS use s familiar

methodologies, such a s typing in a Per sonal Identific ation Number (PIN)

or pushing a button, to enable users to automatically con figure network

names and strong WPA™/WPA2 data encryption and authentication. B y

default, wireless sec urity is disabl ed. To enable securit y, you will need

to determine which stan dard you want to use . To access the secu rity

settings, click “Secu rity” on the “W ireless” tab.

Using Wi-fi Protected setup

WPS recommends that you set up WPA2 (descr ibed on page 44) a s your

wireless security. WPS does not provide a dditional securi ty, but rather

simplifies the addition of wireless devi ces to your wirele ss network.

You may use either the Push B utton Configura tion (PBC) method or PIN

method to allow a device a ccess to your wir eless network:

PBC: Push and hold the WPS button located o n the front of your Router

for two seconds and th e security LED w ill flash, indica ting that WPS

has been initiated. Th en, initiate WPS on the client device within two

minutes (refer to your clie nt’s documentation on this procedur e). The

wireless device and Ro uter will automatic ally exchange a se curity key

and establish a secur e connection.

PIN: The client device ha s a WPS PIN number (eight digits) that will be

provided to you when you i nitiate the connec tion to the Router. Ena ble

WPS through the screen illustrated to the right. Enter the cl ient’s PIN

into the Router’s internal r egistrar (acces sed through this s creen). The

client will be securel y enrolled into you r wireless netwo rk within two

minutes.
