Difficulty with Operation
If you think there is a problem with your machine, make a copy first. If the copy looks good, the problem is probably not your machine. Check the difficulties below and follow the troubleshooting tips.

Fax Machine Does Not | Make sure the machine is in the correct receiving mode for your |

Answer When Called | setup (either FAX, F/T (FAX/TEL) or TAD). Check for dial tone. If |
| |
| possible, call your machine to hear it answer. If there is still no |
|
|
| answer, check the telephone line cord connection. Connect a |
|
|
| standard telephone handset to the machine’s telephone jack. If there |
|
|
| is no ringing when you call your machine, call your Telephone |
|
|
| Company to check the line. |

|
|
|
|
|
No Dial Tone on the Handset | Press Speaker |

Poor Transmitting Quality | Try changing your resolution to FINE or SUPERFINE (See | ||
| “Resolution” on page 21 ). Make a copy to verify the machine’s | ||

Dialling Does Not Work | Check for a dial tone. | ||
| Change TONE/PULSE setting (See “Setting the Dialling Mode | ||
| (Tone/Pulse)” on page 8 ). | ||
| Check all line cord connections. | ||
| Check power cord connection. | ||
| Send a manual fax by pressing Speaker Phone— | ||
| the handset, and dialling the number. Wait to hear fax receiving | ||
| tones before pressing Start. | ||
