X16-C Input/Output Modules

TheMatrixX16CsupportsInput/OutputModules(IOM)whichperformallsystempacket
forwarding.TheX16Cprovides16slotstoinstalltheIOMs.
PhysicalconnectorsfortheseEthernetIOMsinclude:
•SingleandMultimodeFiber(SMF,MMF),10GigabitFormFactorPluggables(XFP)
• SMF/MMF,1GigabitFormFactorPluggables(SFP)
SupportedtransceiversforXFPandSFPconnectorsare:
•SerialMMFat850nmwavelengthwitha65meter(213foot)reach
•WWDM(WideWavele ngth DivisionMultiplexed)andMMFat1310nmwavelengthwitha
300meter(984foot)reach
•WWDMandSerialSMFat1310nmwavelength witha10kilometer(6mile)reach
SerialSMFat1550nmwavelength withrangesupto80kilometers(49.7miles)
• Copper,1000BASET1.25GBdat1550nmwavelengthwitha100meter(328foot)reach
IOMsareequippedwiththeIBMPowerPC440GX,600GHzprocessorand512MBofmemory.
Eachmodulealsoprovides512KBofFLASHwhichstoresthePOSTdiagnosticsandsystemboot
code.AnEEPROMstoresfrom2to48IEEEMACaddresses,dependingonthenumberofphysical
interfacesperIOM,andmanufacturingdata.
