Example 3: EGD Configuration Using a Symbolic Name to Identify Consumers

There are three PLCs in this more complex EGD system using three Ethernet Global Data exchanges. PLC1 contains two Ethernet Interfaces (designated A and B), one of which is both a producer and a consumer. PLC2 is a consumer only. And PLC3 is both a producer and a consumer. The Adapter Names are used as the symbolic names to identify the consumer PLCs. No aliases have been configured, so DDP name resolution will be used. (See “Name Resolution” in the chapter: “Network Administration Support”, for more information.) Network-synchronized time stamping is not used. The identification of the PLCs and the details of the exchange are shown in the tables below.
