Front Panel Components

Before powering on your system, you should become familiar with the system unit controls.

Figure 1-1 shows the front panel components with the bezel attached.

CAUTION This workstation is designated for two-person lifting. It weighs approximately 36 to 49 pounds (16 to 22 kg), depending on the configuration. Do not attempt to lift it by yourself, or injury may result.

Power Switch

This switch turns the system on and off. When you turn your workstation off, the operating system automatically executes the shutdown -qcommand. This prevents any damage to programs and data on your system disk. Turning the power switch back on again automatically boots up the HP-UX operating system if your system has been configured to auto boot.
