DWeather alert function

NOAA broadcast stations transmit weather alert tones before important weather announcements. When the weather alert function is turned ON, the selected weather channel is moni- tored each 5 sec. for the announcement. When the alert sig- nal is detected, the “AL.T” and the WX channel are displayed alternately and sounds a beep tone until the receiver is oper- ated. The previously selected (used) weather channel is checked periodically during standby or while scanning.

qSelect the desired weather channel.

wTurn the weather alert function ON in set mode.

➥Push [TS•SET] to enter set mode.

➥Rotate [DIAL] to select the weather alert item, then ro- tate [DIAL] while pushing and holding [FUNC] to set ON.

➥Push [TS•SET] to exit set mode.

eSet the desired stand-by condition.

•Select VFO or memory channel.

•Scan or priority watch operation can also be selected.

rWhen the alert is detected, a beep sounds and the follow- ing indication will be displayed.

tTurn the weather alert function OFF in set mode.

OTHER FUNCTIONS 10

NOTE: While receiving a signal (on a frequency other than

the weather alert ON frequency), the receiving signal or

audio will be interrupted momentarily every 5 sec. (approx.)

in case the alert function is turned ON. This symptom is

caused by the WX alert function. To cancel these symp- toms, set the weather alert item OFF in set mode.
