If the diameter of the button is more than 1.0" (2.5 cm), a buttonhole must be made manually as follows:

1 Turn the handwheel toward you to raise the needle to its highest position. Raise the presser foot.

2Set the stitch at “ Manual background ” by turning the stitch selector.

3Attach the buttonhole foot [B].

4Pull the buttonhole lever downward as far as it will go.

5Lower the needle into the garment where the buttonhole is to start, and lower the foot.

6Sew the front bartack and left row, then stop.

7Click the buttonhole lever toward you.

8Sew the back bartack and right row, then stop the machine at the starting point.

To cut the opening and to reset for sewing the next buttonhole, refer to instructions 4 and 5 on page 82.
