Print media tasks and tips

Preventing jams

Avoid most jams by correctly loading print media.

Do not load wrinkled, creased, or damp print media.

Never mix media types within a tray.

Flex, fan, and straighten paper before loading.

Do not exceed maximum stack height.

Make sure guides and backstop are positioned lightly against the loaded print media.

Before loading transparencies, fan the stack to prevent sheets from sticking together.

Do not use envelopes that:

Have excessive curl

Are stuck together

Are damaged in any way

Contain windows, holes, perforations, cutouts, or embossments

Have metal clasps, string ties, or metal folding bars

Have postage stamps attached

Have exposed adhesive when the flap is in the sealed position

Are self-sealing

Use only recommended print media. See the Card Stock & Label Guide available on our Lexmark Web site at www.lexmark.com for more information about which print media provides optimum results for your printing environment.

See the Card Stock & Label Guide for detailed information prior to purchasing large quantities of customized print media.
