When the kernel cannot determine what a media card is doing, it places the card into STATE_UNKNOWN, and either reboots the card, or dumps and then reboots the card, depending upon how variables are
Reset media card using grreset
Use the grreset command to reset a media card from the UNIX prompt.
Note: The grreset command can be used on a media card without disturbing normal SP Switch Router system operations.
1Log in as root on the SP Switch Router.
2Enter the grreset command, specifying the appropriate media card by its slot number.
To reset all the media cards, enter:
# grreset all
To reset the media cards in slot 0, enter:
# grreset 0
To reset the card in slot 4 and dump its memory, enter:
# grreset
