Whati s the best way to test my device without havingto program the
device?
Ify ou are using Windows,Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX)
has a TestPanel option that is available by selecting Devices and
Interfacesand then selecting the device. The Test Panelsare excellent tools
forperforming simple functionaltests of the device, such as analog input,
digital I/O, and counter/timer tests.

Analog Input and OutputI’m using my devicein differential AI mode and I have connected a
differentialinput signal, but my readings are random and drift rapidly.
What’swrong?
Check theg round referenceconnections. The signal may be referenced
to a levelthat is considered floating with reference to the device ground
reference. Evenif you are in di fferentialmode, the signal must still be
referenced to the same ground levelas the device reference. There are
variousmethods of achieving this while maintaining a high common-mode
rejection ratio (CMRR). These methods are outlined in Chapter 4, Signal
Connections.
