Installing and Configuring theDevice

Thischap ter explains how to install and configure the AT E Series device.

Complete the following steps to install the software before installing the

DAQ device.

1. Installthe application development environment (ADE), such as

LabVIEW or Measurement Studio, according to the instructions on

the CD and the releasenotes.

2. InstallNI-DAQ according to the instructions on the CD and the DAQ

QuickStart G uide included with the device.

Note Itis important to install NI-DAQ before installing the DAQ device to ensure that the

device is properly detected.

Youcan install an AT ESeries devicein any available expansion slot in the

PC.However, to achieve best noise performance, you should leave as much

roomas possible between the AT E Series device and other devices and

hardware.T he following are general installation instructions, but consult

thePC user manual or technical reference manual for specific instructions

and warnings.

1. Writedown the AT E Series device serial number. Youneed this serial

number when you install and configure the software.

2. Turnoff and unplug the computer.

3. Removethe top cover or access port to the I/O channel.

4. Removethe expansion slot cover on the back panel of the computer.

5. Ground yourself using a grounding strap or by holding a grounded

object.Follow the ESD protection precautions described in the

Unpackingsection of Chapter 1, Introductio n.
