12.3.3 Handset

The base unit beeps. LRecording paper/ink film has run out. Press {STOP} to stop the
beeps and install paper/ink film.
The speakerphone is not
working.
LUse the speakerphone in a quiet room.
LIf you have difficulty hearing the other party, adjust the volume.
I cannot locate a handset. LThe called handset is too far from the base unit.
LThe called handset is in use. Try again later.
Caller information is not
displayed.
LYou have not subscribed to Caller ID service.
LThe caller requested not to send his/her information.
LDepending on the service of the local telephone company, caller
information may not be displayed on the handset in TEL/FAX
mode. In this case, change the TEL/FAX ring setting to 1 (feature
#78 on page 62).
While viewing caller
information, the display
returns to standby mode.
LDo not pause for over 1 minute on the handset or 3 minutes on the
base unit while searching.
Problem Cause & Solution
The handset does not
work.
LMake sure that the batteries are installed correctly (page 18).
LFully charge the batteries (page 20).
LClean the charge contacts and charge again (page 20).
LTurn the handset power OFF, then ON (page 21).
LCheck that the power cord is connected properly.
LThe handset has not been registered to the base unit. Register the
handset (page 73).
LRe-install the batteries (page 18) and fully charge them.
The handset display is
blank.
LThe handset is not turned ON. Turn the power ON (page 21).
The handset will not turn
ON.
LMake sure that the batteries are installed correctly (page 18).
LFully charge the batteries (page 20).
LClean the charge contacts and charge again (page 20).
w is flashing. LThe handset is not registered to the base unit. Register it (page
73).
LThe handset is too far from the base unit. Move closer.
LThe power cord is not connected. Check the connections.
LYou are using the handset or base unit in an area with high
electrical interference. Locate the handset and base unit away from
interference sources, such as antenna and mobile phones.
The handset does not
ring.
LThe night mode feature is turned ON. Turn it OFF (page 67).
LThe ringer volume is turned OFF. Adjust it (page 22).
The batteries should be
charging but the battery
icon does not change.
LClean the charge contacts and charge again (page 20).
LThe power cord is disconnected. Plug in the power cord.
A busy tone is heard when
{C} is pressed.
LThe handset is too far from the base unit. Move closer and try
again.
LThe base unit or another handset is on an outside call. Wait for the
other user to complete the call.
