3.1 Making phone calls

3.1.1 Using the handset

{MUTE}

{<}{>}{e}{v} {TALK}

{OFF}

{SP-PHONE}

{HOLD/CLEAR} {PAUSE/REDIAL}

1Lift the handset and press {TALK}.

2Dial the telephone number.

3When finished talking, press {OFF} or place the handset on the charger.

Note:

LTo use the “PRIVACY” (call privacy) feature

using the soft key (page 10), see page 48.

LTo use the “MUTE” and reception booster features, see the following.

To mute your conversation

You can mute your conversation during a call so the other party cannot hear you. When the call is muted, you will be able to hear the other party.

Press the right soft key ({MUTE}) (page 10).

LMUTE” will flash.

LTo release the mute, press the right soft key

({MUTE}).

LWhen you switch between the receiver and speaker, the mute will be released.

Reception booster feature

This feature allows the handset to improve the sound quality when using it in an area with interference.

Press {<} in the talk or speakerphone mode.

LBooster on” will flash on the display.

LTo turn this feature OFF, press {<} or {>}.

LThis feature will be OFF after hanging up or when putting a call on hold (page 34) or making a conference (page 47).

LThe battery life will be shortened using this feature (page 20).

Making hands-free phone calls

1.Lift the handset and press {SP-PHONE}.

2.Dial the telephone number.

3.When the other party answers, talk into the microphone.

4.When finished talking, press {OFF} or place the handset on the charger.

Speakerphone operation

LAdjust the handset speakerphone volume using {v} or {e}.

LTalk alternately with the caller in a quiet room.

LIf the other party has difficulty hearing you,

press {v} to decrease the speaker volume.

LIf the other party’s voice from the speaker

cuts in/out during a conversation, press {v} to decrease the speaker volume.

LWhile talking using {TALK}, you can switch to a hands-free phone conversation by pressing {SP-PHONE}. To switch back, press {TALK}.

To put a call on hold

Press {HOLD/CLEAR} twice.

LIN USE” will flash on the display, “Hold” will be displayed.

LTo release the hold, press {TALK} or {SP-

PHONE} on the handset or {DIGITAL SP- PHONE} on the base unit.

LIf you do not press a button for more than 6 minutes, a beep will sound every 30 seconds. After 4 additional minutes on hold, the call will be disconnected.

To redial the last number dialed from the handset

Press {TALK} or {SP-PHONE}and press

{PAUSE/REDIAL}.

To redial using the redial list (Memory redial)

The last 5 phone numbers dialed from the handset are stored in the redial list.

1. Press {PAUSE/REDIAL}.

LThe last number dialed will be displayed.
