You can disable the microphone or the handset to consult privately with others in the room while listening to the other party on the phone through the speaker or the handset.

There are 2 types of mute as follows:

Handset Mute:

During a conversation using the handset. This function is available for the KX-

T7400 series telephone users only.

Microphone Mute:

During a conversation using the microphone.
