7. Key Lock Function

The Key Lock function is used to prevent unauthorised operation of the machine. When the Key Lock function is activated, all operations are prohibited except for the following:

Phone calls can be made by picking up the handset and dialling using one of the Rapid Keys (page 25). Dialling using the phonebook and by pressing the number keys is prohibited. It is recommended that you store emergency phone numbers in the Rapid Keys.

A fax can be sent using a Rapid Key if the handset is picked up before the Rapid Key is pressed. When you hear the fax tone from the receiving

machine, press START to begin transmission (if a person answers, ask them to press their Start key).

Faxes can be received automatically when the reception mode is set to FAX, TEL/FAX, or A.M. mode (page 15). Faxes can be received manually

by pressing START when the call is answered on the handset (page 27),

or by pressing , , on an extension phone when the call is answered on an extension phone (page 30).

Phone calls can be made and received using an extension phone.

To use the Key Lock function, you must first store a 4-digit Key Lock code as explained below, and then activate the function as explained on the following page.

Storing the Key Lock code

1Press F , , and .

2Press (SET) to store the Key Lock code.

If [ALREADY STORED] appears in the display, the Key Lock code has already been programmed. If you wish to change the code, you must first delete the old code (see page 45) and then store the new code.

3Enter the 4-digit number that you wish to use for the Key Lock code.

4Press START .

5 Press

to exit.

Important: Be sure to keep a record of the Key Lock code, as it must be entered to deactivate the Key Lock function and allow normal operation of the machine. In the event that you forget the code and have kept no record, contact SHARP customer service.
