Your fax machine is equipped with an

error correction facility (ECM). If your fax

partner also has an error correction

facility, this permits error-free fax

transmission. One effect linked with ECM

is that the transmission time increases if

there are any problems on the line. This

may involve very high costs with oversees

calls. For this reason, the error correction

facility can be temporarily disabled.

If the error correction mode is

disabled in the basic setting

(see page 105), ECM is tempo-

rarily enabled using the adjacent method.

change the basic setting of the error

correction mode.
