Table 8 System General
LABEL | DESCRIPTION | |
|
| |
System Name | This is for identification purposes. Enter your computer's "Computer Name". This
| name can be up to 30 alphanumeric characters long. Spaces are not allowed, but | |
| dashes | |
Domain Name | The Domain Name entry is what is propagated to the DHCP clients on the LAN. If
| you leave this blank, the domain name obtained by DHCP from the ISP is used. | |
| Use up to 38 alphanumeric characters. Spaces are not allowed, but dashes | |
| periods "." are accepted. | |
Administrator | Type how many minutes a management session can be left idle before the session
Inactivity Timer | times out. The default is 5 minutes. After it times out you have to log in with your
| password again. Very long idle timeouts may have security risks. A value of "0" | |
| means a management session never times out, no matter how long it has been left | |
| idle (not recommended). | |
System DNS | DNS (Domain Name System) is for mapping a domain name to its corresponding
Servers | IP address and vice versa, e.g., the IP address of www.zyxel.com is 204.217.0.2.
| The DNS server is extremely important because without it, you must know the IP | |
| address of a computer before you can access it. | |
First DNS Server | Select From ISP if your ISP dynamically assigns DNS server information (and the
Second DNS | Prestige's WAN IP address). The field to the right displays the
server IP address that the ISP assigns.
Server | ||
Select | ||
Third DNS Server | ||
| server's IP address in the field to the right. | |
| Select None if you do not want to configure DNS servers. If you do not configure a | |
| system DNS server, you must use IP addresses when configuring DDNS and the | |
| time server. |
