General safety precautions

IMPORTANT!

SThe machine is only designed for trimming grass.

SThe only accessories you can operate with this engine unit are the cutting at- tachments we recommend in the “Tech- nical data” section.

SNever use wire, rope, string, etc.

SNever use the machine if you are tired, if you have drunk alcohol, or if you are tak- ing medication that could affect your vi- sion, your judgment or your coordination.

SNever use the machine in extreme weath- er conditions such as severe cold, very hot and/or humid climates.

SNever use a machine that has been modi- fied in any way from its original specifica- tion.

SWear personal protective equipment. See instructions in the “Personal protective equipment” section.

SNever use a machine that is faulty. Carry out the checks, maintenance and service instructions described in this manual.

Some maintenance and service measures must be carried out by trained and quali- fied specialists. See instructions in the “Maintenance” section.

SAll covers and guards must be fitted before starting. Make sure the spark plug cap and lead are not damaged. Otherwise you could get an electric shock.

SThe machine operator must ensure that no people or animals come closer than 50 feet (15 meters) while working.

SStay clear of spinning line.

SSecure or remove loose clothing or cloth- ing with loosely hanging ties, straps, tas- sels, etc. They can be caught in moving parts.

SBeing fully covered also helps protect you from debris and pieces of toxic plants thrown by spinning line.

SKeep handles free of oil and fuel.

SAlways keep the engine on the right hand side of your body.

SHold the unit firmly with both hands.

SKeep trimmer head below waist level and away from all parts of your body. Do not raise engine above your waist.

SKeep all parts of your body away from muffler and spinning line. Keep engine be- low waist level. A hot muffler can cause serious burns.

SKeep firm footing and balance. Do not overreach or use from unstable surfaces such as ladders, trees, steep slopes, roof- tops, etc.

SUse only in daylight or good artificial light. S Use only for jobs explained in this manual.
