Bridge Mode

If your ISP limits access to the Internet to specific computers, this means that traffic to/from these computers only will be forwarded. In this case, Bridge Mode is used to connect to the ISP. The ISP will generally give one Internet account and limit only one computer to access the Internet.

Check with your ISP to determine if this mode is used for your Internet connection.

1Select Bridge Mode from the Protocol drop-down menu.

2Select VLAN.

3Enter the VPI/VCI values. Or click Auto Search to find out the values. VPI (Virtual Path Identifier) and VCI (Virtual Circuit Identifier) numbers should be provided by your ISP.

4Select the Encapsulation, VC MUX or LLC. This information should be provided by your ISP.

5QoS Class: select CBR, UBR or VBR.

CBR (constant bit rate): the CBR service class is intended for real-time applications, for example, those requiring tightly constrained delay and delay variation, such as voice and video applications. The consistent availability of a fixed quantity of bandwidth is considered appropriate for CBR service.
