Supplemental Operator’s Guide

Press the [Save/Recall] hardkey.

Press the [RECALL DATA] softkey (F4).

Press the

[RCL TRACE

AND SCALE] softkey (F1).

Press the

[FROM FILE

INTO D1] softkey (F1).

Press the [CLEAR ENTRY] softkey (F9).

Enter COMPARE1.DAT and press the [ENTER] softkey (F1).

Data from the file “COMPARE1.DAT” now appears in data register D1. Next, recall “COMPARE2.DAT” into dataregister D2 as follows:

Press the [Save/Recall] hardkey.

Press the [RECALL DATA] softkey (F4).

Press the

[RCL TRACE

AND SCALE] softkey (F1).

Press the

[FROM FILE

INTO D2] softkey (F2).

Press the [CLEAR ENTRY] softkey (F9).

Enter COMPARE2.DAT and press the [ENTER] softkey (F1).

The data registers now contain the comparison data. To make real-time measurements, start the measurement as follows:

Press the yellow [Start] hardkey.

Scaling the Displays

Proper trace scaling of the FRONT/BACK displays provides a quick and clear visual comparison. Both traces should be set to the same scale, or at least use the same “Y PER DIV (DECADES).” This need to be set up for each pair of traces. After comparison data has been recalled into D1 and D2, and real-time measurements are complete on Channel 1 and Channel 2, set up scale as follows:

Press the [Active Trace] hardkey.

Press the [A B] softkey (F1).

Press the [Scale] hardkey.

Toggle the [AUTOSCALE ON OFF] softkey (F1) until ON is highlighted.

Press the [Y PER DIV (DECADES)] softkey (F6).

Enter 2 and press the [ENTER] softkey (F1).

Note: Usually one, two, or three decades offers the best scale for comparison. If the scale is not identical, but the top reference is different, then the traces can be made identical. Assuming the maximum peak of both traces is about 8 mV, then the top reference can be set to 10 mV by the following:

Press the [TOP REFERENCE] softkey (F2).

Enter 0.01 and press the [ENTER] softkey (F1).
