Cable Management
A fully loaded multi-MGX 8 220 r ack ca n have between 150 and 200 cable s at tac hed to the racks
modules. Cable management kits are available for installation on the rear of rack modules. These kits
provide the means to route the power and data cables in a neat and orderly fashion to and from the
modules in the rack. Depending upon the number of racks in the shelf and the number of cables
connected to the shelves, one or m o r e c ab le m an ag eme nt kits are required.
The cable management kits are installed to the rear of the cooling module, the booster cooling module,
and the plenum as required.
Note A cable management ki t c annot be installed on t he spacer unit.
There are two basic cable managem ent kits:
1. Plenum chamber kit
2. Cooling and booster cooling kit

Plenum Chamber Kit

The plenum chamber kit consists of a cable managem ent panel , neces sary br ackets , scre ws, and wa shers
for rear mounting on the plenum as shown in Table7-1.
A cable management kit for the plenum is shown in Figure 7-16. Install the kit as follows:
Step 1 Install the two inner bra cke t s on to the sides of the plenum cham ber, one on each side using two thread
forming screws for each bracket. If a rear rail is being used to mount the plenum, use the protruding
flange to attach to the rail using two thread forming screws and washers (supplied with the plenum
install kit). If there is limited acces s, u s e th e p r oc ed ures d es cr i be d in th e sec tion, “Rack-Mounting the
Modules” under Limited Access, page 7-10.
Step 2 Install the two outer brack ets onto the two inner bracket s u sin g two screws with locking nu ts for each
bracket.
Step 3 Install the cable management pa nel onto the outer brackets using two screws, locking nuts, and washers
for each bracket.
